Recently, Deng Zhongmin, a professor at the School of Textile Engineering, has received constant feedback from his colleagues. The thermal trio of pants, socks and insoles invented by him and his team sold well on group-purchase platforms. The product appraisal shows that the clothes made of a special fabric can heat up the skin by 3.1-8.4 ℃ within a short time after wearing. In order to achieve this goal, Deng Zhongmin's team has spent more than 7 years testing more than 1000 kinds of materials.
During experiments, his research team changed materials as well as the process and equipment. After more than 1000 tests, the team selected the hygroscopic heating fiber recombined by cotton fiber and zirconium carbide composite powder rayon fiber and spandex fiber and wove them together into the upper and lower layers of the fabric, which are highly elastic. The interwoven thread of the middle layer is made of polyester coffee carbon fiber, which can heat up quickly and inhibit the growth of bacteria.
Deng Zhongmin, professor of Wuhan Textile University, postgraduate students supervisor, senior visiting scholar of Deakin University, academic leader of the discipline of Fashion Design and Engineering, young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contribution in Hubei Province, is mainly engaged in textile, knitwear products and equipment research and development. He has published more than 100 scientific research papers and presided over the completion of more than 10 provincial and ministerial-level major projects and more than 50 scientific research projects in Hubei Province. One of his inventions—the fully formed seamless fabric—has a variety of characteristics such as heat preservation and bacteria inhibition. The nationally-advanced fabric has won a dozen of awards, including the second prize of Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress and HongKong Sangma Science and Technology Award. In addition, it has been applied to industrial production in more than ten cities, including Guangdong, Fujian, Shandong, and has had good social effects.
