Recently, Associate Professor Zhou Yi from the Textile Engineering School of Wuhan Textile University guided Bangladeshi master's student Roy Tornado to achieve significant research outcomes. As the first author, Roy Tornado has published a series of academic papers in several leading international journals in the field of engineering materials, including Composites Part B: Engineering, Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, Bio resource Technology, and Ocean Engineering. Wuhan Textile University is listed as the first affiliated institution for all these papers, with Professor Zhou serving as the corresponding author.

The research series focuses on the high-value resource utilization of waste crop fibers and discarded textile fibers. The team developed innovative green preparation technologies and fabricated multiple textile-based structural composites, with applications in ballistic protection and marine engineering protection. The studies conducted in-depth analyses of material structures, mechanical behaviors, and failure mechanisms, overcoming key technical challenges such as interface bonding, shear instability, and damage control. These findings provide strong support for technological innovation in textile materials and the upgrading of traditional industries. The publication of multiple papers in prestigious international journals fully demonstrates our university's research strength and innovation capability in the areas of waste fiber recycling and multifunctional protective textile composites.

Leveraging the opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative, WTU has consistently advanced its international talent cultivation efforts. By providing high-quality research platforms and an international team, it has actively strengthened the research capabilities, hands-on skills, and cross-cultural communication competence of international students. This achievement serves as a vivid example of the college's commitment to deepening international cooperation and integrating research into education, and it is expected to further propel the college's disciplinary development and internationalization to new heights.
