He has successively held several key positions, including Director of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Materials Processing and Die & Mould Technology, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman (on loan) of the Hubei Association for Science and Technology, and Director of the Library at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In May 2025, he was appointed as a Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Wuhan Textile University.

His primary research focuses on material processing technology, molds, and equipment. He currently serves as Deputy Director of the National Mold Standardization Committee, Vice Chairman of the Plasticity Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Deputy Director of the Forging Mold Committee of the China Die & Mould Industry Association, Vice Chairman of the Hubei Mechanical Engineering Society, and Vice Chairman of the Hubei Automotive Engineering Society. He has led numerous significant projects, including key research and development projects under the National Science and Technology Major Project, industrial mother machine projects, National Natural Science Foundation projects (covering youth, general, outstanding youth, major project sub-projects, and special key projects), key pre-research projects of the General Armament Department, National Science and Technology Major Projects, Science and Technology Support Program projects, and various provincial, ministerial-level, and industry-university-enterprise cooperation projects. He has published over 100 SCI papers in top journals such as International Journal of Plasticity (IJP) and Acta Materialia (AM), obtained more than 30 authorized invention patents, and formulated 7 national and industry standards. He has been awarded one second prize for National Technological Invention and five first prizes for provincial and ministerial-level science and technology achievements.
