Prof. Wang Dong

Vice President and PhD supervisor

Born in November 1979, Han, member of the Communist Party of China.

From July 2001 to February 2004, he studied for bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Donghua University; In February 2008, he graduated from the University of California, Davis. From March 2008 to June 2010, he was engaged in post-doctoral work and product research and development in the United States. In July 2010, he started to work at Wuhan Textile University.

He successively served as deputy dean and executive dean of the School of Material Science and Engineering of Wuhan Textile University, Executive Deputy Dean of the Institute of Technology, director of the Analysis and Testing Center, Dean of the Postgraduate School, and director of the Discipline Construction Office. In October 2024, he was appointed to the Vice President of WTU.

He is mainly engaged in the innovative research of new fiber materials and their interdisciplinary fields such as biology, electronics, energy and environment. As the leader of research program, he won 1 first prize of Hubei Technology Invention Award, 3 first prizes of Science and Technology Awards of China Textile Industry Federation, and 1 patent bonus award of China Textile Industry. He has published more than 260 academic papers indexed by SCI in Adv. Mater. And other journals, and authorized more than 200 Chinese invention patents, and 1 invention patent each from the United States and Japan. He has won the China Youth Science and Technology Award, the China Textile Engineering Society "Textile Academic Award", the American Fiber Society "Outstanding Achievement Award".

He has won the special government allowance of The State Council, the National May 1st Labor Medal, the young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Hubei Province, the outstanding returnees of Hubei Province, the May 1st Labor Medal of Hubei Province, and the honorary titles called Excellent Teacher in Hubei Province.
