A delegation from the University of Ulster, UK, visited WTU

On April 24th, the delegation was led by Prof. Paul Hanna, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Engineering from the University of Ulster, UK visited Wuhan Textile University. The staffs from the International Office and the School of Computer Science & AI attended the exchange activities.

Ji Chen, the Director of the International Office, extended a warm welcome to Prof. Paul Hanna and his team. He introduced the development achievements of WTU under the guidance of the concept of "Enhancing Scientific Research and International Education ". He stated that artificial intelligence technology is profoundly reshaping the landscape of higher education, and deepening high-level international cooperation is an important path to promoting interdisciplinary integration and the cultivation of innovative talents. He expressed the hope that based the application for a Sino-foreign cooperative education program as a link, both sides could cooperate in the field of artificial intelligence, focusing on the joint construction of the curriculum system, exchange of teachers and students, and collaborative research and innovation. With the aim of establishment of standardized and sustainable Sino-British joint cultivation mechanism, both 2 universities could provide a more diverse and open international education platform for students.

Paul Hanna expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception and highly praised the rapid development of WTU in the fields of computer science and artificial intelligence. He stated that the University of Ulster has always attached great importance to establishing partnerships with outstanding universities around the world and hopes that the two universities can continue to promote various forms of inter-university exchanges based on the principle of mutual learning and mutual benefit in the future. They aim to carry out practical cooperation in areas such as the sharing of teaching resources, mutual recognition of credits, and two-way exchanges of teachers and students.

During the discussion, Hu Xinrong, the Dean of the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, introduced the development overview, faculty strength, and disciplinary advantages of the school. Both sides focused on key issues such as discipline alignment, enrollment scale, curriculum co-construction, and faculty allocation in the process of preparing for the Sino-foreign cooperative education program and reached a preliminary consensus. Both sides agreed to strengthen communication and coordination to accelerate the implementation of the cooperation framework and details in the future.

During their visit, Paul Hanna and his team also visited the campus of the Sunshine Campus, the Textile Science and Technology Museum, and the laboratories of the School of Computer Science and AI.
