On 20 May, a cloud forum on the theme of "Learning from China", organized by the China Study Center at the Baluchistan University of Information Technology Engineering and Management Sciences(BUITEMS), was held on the Zoom platform, where nearly 100 Chinese and Pakistani students and teachers met in the cloud to discuss friendship and cooperation, and dozens of experts and professors in the field of higher education and foreign affairs workers discussed topics such as "Sino-Pakistani exchange and cooperation", "Studying from China", "Chinese Culture and Folklore" and "Importance of Chinese Language and Literature".
As the only Chinese university representative, Prof. Lin Li, Direct Party Branch Secretary of the International Office and International Educational School of WTU was invited to the forum and delivered a keynote speech on the topic of "Strengthening the ties of China-Pak under CPEC" as the chief speaker. Prof. Lin Li reviewed the cooperation between WTU, and the National Textile University of Pakistan, University of Faisalabad, and University of Gift and the fruitful results achieved. By telling the story of the arduous journey and touching story of the research team led by Prof. Xu Weilin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Wuhan Textile University, in the process of developing the high-temperature resistant elastic sealing device for the Chang'e-5 lunar surface flag and the Tianwen-1 Mars probe, the hardworking spirit of the spinners to stand at the forefront of the times and climb to the peak of science and technology was fully demonstrated.
Prof. Lin Li pointed out that China and Pakistan formally established diplomatic relations in 1951, shortly after the founding of New China. During the Bandung Conference in 1955, Premier Zhou Enlai held many talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Mu Ali and a series of consensuses reached by the leaders of the two countries during the talks which became a new historical starting point for China-Pakistan relations. The mutual trust and friendship between the two countries have always been rock-solid after more than 70 years of international changes. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind. As the flagship project of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has achieved remarkable results with the joint efforts of both sides, bringing important benefits to the people of the two countries, adding a strong impetus to regional prosperity. Especially in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic, China and Pakistan have sincerely helped each other, and the "irony" friendship between the two countries has been further sublimated, becoming a model of today's state-to-state cooperation.
Prof. Lin Li recalled, that in the spring of 2019, the Pakistani students of WTU planted some young saplings at Sunshine Campus. After careful care, these saplings have now grown strong. The China-Pakistan relationship is like the saplings planted by the two countries' predecessors, which have been carefully nurtured to take root and blossom. Thanks to their hard work, we can have the close cooperation between our two countries and the good feelings between our people today. This is what the Chinese call "the tree planted by those who have gone before, the tree will grow for the next generation". WTU is willing to strengthen educational cooperation with Pakistani universities, deepen humanities exchanges, and work together to promote substantive cooperation in the joint training of high-level talents, bilateral translation and dissemination of literature and books, and mutual recognition of courses and credits. We sincerely welcome young people from Pakistan to come and study at WTU and contribute to the promotion of Sino-Pakistani friendship for all time.
