"Experiencing Jingchu Intangible Cultural Heritage Culture, Promoting Exchange Among Different Civilizations" -- 2022 Jingchu Intangible Cultural Heritage Practice course for WTU International students Started

On the morning of January 5th, the opening ceremony of 2022 Jingchu Intangible Cultural Heritage Practice course for WTU International students was held in hubei Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center of Wuhan Textile University. More than 40 international teachers and students from the Chinese Traditional Culture Base (Han Embroidery) of the Ministry of Education, P.R.C., Hubei Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center, Science and Technology Department, International Office, Textile Industry Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange Research Institute, attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Lin Li, director of the International Office and vice President of the Research Institute of International People-to-People Exchange for Textile Industry.

At the opening ceremony, Ye Hongguang, director of Hubei Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center, and Zhang Shangyong, Secretary of the Party Branch of the International Office & International Education College made a speech together. They said, Jingchu culture has a long history, which is extensive and profound. As the intangible cultural heritage of local handicrafts with unique characteristics in Hubei province, Han embroidery is the important carriers for us to study Jingchu culture. They hoped all the international students can understand and love this folk hand embroidery techniques, and take it back to their native country through the course, so as to contribute to promoting International People-to-People Exchange and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

In the future, over 10 international teachers and students from 8 countries, such as China, Morocco, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will learn Han embroidery taught by professional teachers. With the traditional Chinese zodiac year of the tiger as the core design elements, they will learn and Work together to complete the handmade artwork.
