The online meeting between Sino-British teachers and students from International Joint Teaching Program was held in the conference room of the School of Fashion, Nanhu Campus of WTU, on March 17th, 2021. Tao Hui, the Dean of the School of Fashion of WTU, Jiang Xuewei, the associate dean, Robin and Ruby, the director of Manchester Metropolitan University, and both teachers and students who were involved in the program attended the meeting.
Tao Hui pointed out that via carrying out the program, students should further think globally, enhance the ability of international cooperation, cultivate the creative thoughts across culture, boost the Chinese cultural confidence, inherit and develop the responsibility with Chinese excellent traditional culture in intercultural communications and studies. After that, both teachers and students communicated and interacted on the topic by video. The eight groups also discussed and communicated on the theme Fashion Sustainability Rebel Tartan. Within the next two months, both sides will carry out free communications, centralized reporting, lectures and tutorships with teachers and other programs between both students by the platform Dingding, Wechat and other media, and ultimately complete a series of designs, which will be displayed online.
Since 2011 of its first Joint International Teaching Program with the ECA, the School of Fashion has implemented with the Manchester Met, the UoP, the ISU, the Bunka Gakuen University, the GU and the UZB Tashkent University of Light Industry, developing a large number of talents of Fashion Specialty with international vision of cross-cultural communication and innovation. Fashion Design is the national first-class specialty. The JITP is a promising attempt of educational reform.
