International Students Epidemic-Fighting Commendation and 2020 International Students Graduation Ceremony Held Successfully

Recently, the International Students Epidemic-Fighting Commendation and 2020 International Students Graduation Ceremony was held in the school library. Zhang Wenxue, Deputy Secretary of the WTU Party Committee, attended the ceremony. Also present were heads ofrelevant functional departments such as the WTU Office, the International Office, the Postgraduate Office, the Archives and heads of various Schools such as the School of Textile Science and Engineering, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, the School of Fashion, the School of Art and Design. All international students on campus participated in the activity.

The event started with a chorus of international students singing "Jasmine", and then the teachers and students watched the graduation commemorative video and the international studentsepidemic-fighting video together.

In this event, WTUawarded international students with honors such as "Honour Certificate of Sticking to Wuhan", "Certificate of Epidemic-FightingVolunteer," "Certificate of Excellent Essays for Epidemic-Fighting", and "Certificate of Outstanding Graduates".

Twenty eight international studentsstayed put at WTU during the epidemic. They experienced fear and anxiety but also witnessed the Chinese government’ s ability to organize, mobilize and govern, the sense of the large picture and the feelings of “the family and country” of Chinese people, thus obtaining a deeper understanding of the concept of the community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi. In the meantime, they strengthened self-management, showed unity and fraternity, carefully implemented prevention and control measures, and helped one another, demonstrating the internationalism of mutual help and solidarity.

Finally, the outstanding graduate, Ammarah, from Pakistan, delivered a speech. “The two years at WTU enabled me to learn a lot about Chinese culture and make many Chinese friends. I learned a vivid lesson from the unexpected epidemic, which helped me better understand the Chinese government and Chinese people. During the epidemic, the care of the school leaders and the teachers made me feel the warmth of home. We will always keep in mind thatWTU is our home. I look forward to returning here to visit all of the teachers in the future”said she.
