On April 13, the Hubei Technology Exchange held an appraisal meeting in Wuhan to evaluate the results of the "weaving technology and apparatus of knitting fabric based on virtual simulation machine" completed by WTU. The project was a brainchild of experts from the School of Textile Engineering and the School of Mathematics and Computer Science. Liu Zaizhou, deputy secretary of the school party committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Also present at the meeting were experts and professors from many sister universities such as Huazhong University of Science & Technology and Wuhan University.
At the appraisal meeting, the panel of experts heard the Work Report as well as the Science and Technology Results Report written by Professor Deng Zhongming, Professor Hu Xinrong and other team members, reviewed relevant materials and raised questions on the spot.
The panel believes that the project has solved the problems of complex modeling, slow convergence speed and poor stability of composite fabrics in the weaving of composite fabrics and European space. The virtual simulation technology, artificial intelligence and cloud design platform are applied to the design and production of top grade knitted fabrics. The number of samples is reduced by using virtual weaving, and market feedback is obtained by using virtual fitting. As such, the production cost of enterprises are reduced and good economic and social benefits achieved. This technology has reached the international advanced level and should be further promoted and applied.
