The School of Mathematics and Computer Science, one of Wuhan Textile University’s large-scale schools with strong overall strength, has a team of outstanding teachers with active academic thinking and high comprehensive quality. There are 128 faculty members, more than 60% of whom are doctors, and more than 2,000 undergraduates in school.

The School of Mathematics and Computer Science has undergraduate majors of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computing Science, Computer Science and Technology (directed in Artificial Intelligence), Software Engineering (directed in Software Application and Big Data), Internet of Things Engineering, among which the Computer Science and Technology and Software Engineering have been approved as pilot majors for the strategic emerging pillar industry talent training program of Hubei Province. In 2019, the undergraduate majors of Information and Computing Science and Computer Science and Technology were selected into the "Double Ten Thousand Plan"(10000 National first-class majors and 10000 Provincial first-class majors) for provincial and national first-class undergraduate major construction, of which the Computer Science and Technology were the first batch of selected national "double first-class" construction majors in Hubei Province.

The school of Mathematics and Computer Science has first-level disciplines of Computer Science and Technology and Mathematics with the master degree authorization, and a master degree authorization category of Software Engineering. Among them, the discipline of Computer Science and Technology was rated as a key cultivation discipline of Hubei Province in 2012, and was awarded C- in the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, also the master degree of Software Engineering passed the qualification evaluation of the National Degree Office.

The school of Mathematics and Computer Science has scientific research institutions such as Hubei Provincial Clothing Information Engineering Technology Research Center, Cloud Computing Research Institute, Machine Learning Research Institute and Big Data Engineering Center, Applied Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Science. Research Center and Non-Linear Science Research Center，which jointly built R&D bases such as Artificial Intelligence laboratory, Textile Big Data R&D center, and Information Security laboratory with companies like iFLYTEK, WANFANG Data and Optictop. The School of Mathematics and Computer Science is accredited by Hubei Provincial University's outstanding young and middle-aged technology innovation team, the Visual Computing and Digital Textiles team，and has two Hubei Province textile industry chain common technology collaboration innovation team, such as visual computing and digital textile, Fiber Internet of Things Center and three school-level discipline innovation teams including Mobile Computing and Intelligent Perception, Complex Network Modeling and Application, and Textile Intelligent Control and Recognition. The school of Mathematics and Computer Science meanwhile built a school-level discipline group "Modern Textile Information Technology" and a provincial-level discipline group "Fashion Creative Culture" and established the teaching team of Hubei Province, such as the "Programming Course Group Teaching Team".

The school of Mathematics and Computer Science has established 1024 College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Studio, Mathematical Modeling Association, Apple Club, Mathematics Competition Association, ACM Club, Blue Bridge Cup Competition Association, Cyber Security Club, Artificial Intelligence and Robot Club, 3D Game and Virtual Reality Development Club, Software Design Association, Big Data Association, "i"Talent Employment Promotion Association and other 12 student science and technology innovation organizations, so that each student enters a team, participates in a project and a competition, and receives a training experience.
