WTU has established a partnership with the Pakistan Science Foundation

On January 6th, Professor Muhammad Akmal, the Chairman of the Pakistan Science Foundation, and Ms. Zainab Farooq, the Chief Scientific Officer for International Relations of the Pakistan Science Foundation, visited WTU and attended the International Symposium on Health Science and Technology Under the Belt and Road Innative. Vice President Wang Dong met with the Pakistani guests at Jianquan Hall. The leader of the International Office and the Dean of School of Biomedical Engineering and Health, as well as representatives of Pakistani experts, postdoctoral, and international students on campus, also participated in the meeting. The symposium was chaired by Executive Dean Zhang Zhaowei of School of Biomedical Engineering and Health.

Vice President Wang Dong extended a warm welcome to Professor Muhammad Akmal and his delegation, and introduced WTU's strategic measures and practical achievements in talent cultivation, discipline construction, and scientific research. He stated, adhering to the concept of opening education, WTU has established long-term and stable cooperative relations with many renowned textile universities in Pakistan, achieving a series of practical results. Under the background of the two countries jointly promoting the construction of a new era of the China-Pakistan community with a shared future, WTU is willing to further deepen cooperation with the Pakistan Science Foundation in areas such as talent cultivation, scientific research collaboration, and joint project applications, so as to promote progress in the fields of textile and health science and technology.

Professor Muhammad Akmal expressed gratitude for the warm reception and introduced the active role of the Pakistan Science Foundation in promoting national scientific and technological innovation and international cooperation. He said that the foundation is committed to supporting Pakistan established collaborative innovation with friendly countries in key areas such as industry and agriculture, and attaches great importance to mutual learning and exchange with Chinese universities and research institutions. This visit aims to enhance understanding, promote academic exchanges, and explore cooperation potential. Relying on China's advanced experience in textile technology, it seeks to promote mutual learning and win-win cooperation.

During the International Symposium on Health Science and Technology along the Belt and Road, scholars from both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge topics such as high-performance textile materials, sustainable cotton cultivation and production, and textile chemical and green dyeing and finishing technologies. Combined the current development status of the textile and life and health sciences in China and Pakistan, Experts discuss common challenges and future opportunities in the industry, and reached multiple consensus on joint research, technology transfer, and talent cultivation, laying a solid academic foundation for subsequent cooperation.

Under the witness of the attending guests, Chairman Muhammad Akmal and Vice President Wang Dong officially signed a research cooperation agreement on behalf of both sides. According to the agreement, both sides will establish a long-term collaborative system to continuously promote scientific and educational cooperation between China and Pakistan.
