On March 27th, Wuhan Textile University extended an invitation to Professor Marco Cassini, a distinguished Italian filmmaker and professor at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, to deliver an academic presentation with the themed of Narrative Techniques and Audio-Visual Language in Italian Cinem for the faculty and students of the Southelake Campus. The event drew the full participation of all faculty and students from the School of Media and Communication, generating significant enthusiasm and engagement among attendees.

Professor Marco Cassini, drawing on vivid practical examples, elaborated on topics such as "How to Discover Scriptwriting Inspiration in Everyday Life" and "The Art of Cinematic Narration." He encouraged students to actively engage with life and reflect on their experiences within a multicultural context, using the language of film to articulate the psychological and emotional journeys of humanity. Subsequently, he focused on the cultural foundations and global impact of Italian cinema, providing an in-depth analysis of its distinctive narrative techniques and audio-visual characteristics. Furthermore, he compared these aspects with those of American films in terms of production methodologies, narrative structures, and audio-visual aesthetics. Through the detailed examination and screening of classic scenes, both faculty and students were able to gain a more intuitive understanding of the differences and unique appeal of films from various national cinematic traditions.
During the interactive Q&A session, faculty and students engaged in a detailed exchange with Professor Marco Cassini on topics including the methodologies for constructing film scripts, techniques for character development, and strategies for integrating multicultural elements and personal emotions into the filmmaking process. Professor Cassini expressed high commendation for the vibrant academic atmosphere within the WTU's arts discipline, as well as the remarkable imagination and creativity demonstrated by both faculty and students.
This international academic exchange and creative workshop is designed to establish an international academic exchange platform for the faculty and students of WTU, facilitating engagement with digital media art. By organically integrating disciplinary development with international creative thinking, the initiative seeks to encourage participants to synthesize Eastern and Western perspectives, engage in critical reflection, and pursue innovative approaches in both their professional endeavors and academic pursuits. This process aims to comprehensively enhance practical skills and professional competencies.
