On March 15th, the opening ceremony of the Seminar on Textile and Garment Industry Planning in Developing Countries was held at the Smart Conference Room of the International Exchange Center, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized and WTU. Lin Li, the secretary of the Party branch directly under the International Office, School of International Education, and the Foreign-aid Management Center, along with the main staff of the center and 27 students from six countries, including Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Jordan, and Ghana, gathered virtually to begin a new journey of learning and friendship.
In her opening speech, Lin Li elaborated on China's foreign strategy centered around building a community with a shared future for humanity, and explained the significance of China's provision of aid and training to developing countries. She also introduced the development of Wuhan, Hubei and Wuhan Textile University. Student representatives, including Lalisa Geleta, Minister Councillor from the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Sallieu Kamara, the Program Manager from Ministry of Labor and Social Security in Sierra Leone, and Mankhahle Mokoteli, nutritionist from the Lesotho Ministry of Agriculture, expressed their enthusiasm for learning from China's wisdom and solutions, and looked forward to sharing their own experiences and resources with the experts and professors.
Under the scheme, the seminar is scheduled to last for 14 days. In 2023, the Foreign-aid Management Center will adopt a way combining online and offline, domestic and foreign teaching methods to continuously improve the content and form of the training. In the implementation of foreign aid projects, the Center will further highlight Chinese cultural elements, present the development of Jingchu, integrate innovation into industry technology and leverage the unique features of WTU, thereby creating a new brand of foreign aid training in central and even the whole country.
