On September 30th, the teachers from international office and international education college of WTU organized more than 20 international freshmen from Russia, Ukraine, Morocco, Bangladesh, Ethiopia and other 15 countries to visit the hometown of great man in Wuhan, Hubei Provincial Museum and east lake scenery culture area. By the means of learning combined with joy, visiting and exchanges, we carried out educational practice activities with the theme of " To perceive the elegant demeanor of Jingchu Culture and explore the footprints of great men and sages ''.
The first port for the international students was Mao Zedong's former residence in The East Lake Hotel. When they entered the exhibition hall, they saw a large number of books on the chairman's bed. Seeing this scene, the teacher explained to the international students: As the first generation of the supreme leader of the Communist Party of China and the country, Chairman Mao loved to study, thought hard, and often read late at night. During his stay in Wuhan, he went deep into factories, schools, and rural areas for research, proposed the grand idea of the Three Gorges Project and the South-to-North Water Diversion project, met with Kim Il Sung and other foreign political figures, and composed classic poems such as "Water Tune Head · Swim". International students were told the story of an old, shabby cooler next to Mao's office. It turned out that the chairman was industrious and frugal all his life, often leaving the unfinished meals for the next meal, so the staff had to customize a special "refrigerator" for the chairman in Beijing. This refrigerator not only became his favorite in Wuhan but also reflected the fine style of frugality and hard work of a great man.
Afterward, the group of international students visited Hubei Provincial Museum. International students one after another visited to enjoy the cultural relics such as the elegant Blue and White Porcelain with Four Love-themed Paintings of Yuan Dynasty, the bronze zun-pan underneath from the tomb of Zenghouyi, samurai armor, focused on listening to historical allusions behind the mainstays of the museum, such as the Sword of King Goujian of Yue, Bamboo Slips of the Qin Dynasty from Yunmeng and Bronzt Bell Chime of Zenghouyi. Through further discussions and exchanges with Chinese students, the international students were deeply impressed by the profound and rich Chinese culture.
After that, Chinese and foreign teachers and students came to Hubei Art Museum to enjoy the series of works "Data Naturalism" brought by Professor Josephine Zhan of the Hubei Academy of Fine Arts. As a contemporary Chinese artist, his works show the passionate expression of contemporary society and the sincere reflection of artistic life. Dashan, a graduate student majoring in Art and Design from Russia, said, "What I have known about China in the past is its achievements in the field of economic development, but I never expected that Chinese artists are equally brilliant in the field of humanities and art. The Chinese people have never stopped exploring the human spirit and pursuing the all-around development of human beings''.
The last stop of the tour was the the Poetry-Reciting Pavilion of Wuhan East Lake Tingtao Scenic Area. Here, we visited the Memorial Hall of Qu Yuan and admired the statue of Qu Yuan. Chinese teachers and students told the international students about Qu Yuan, the great Chinese romantic poet, who loved his country and cared for his people. The customs of dragon boat racing, making zongzi, and hanging mugwort were introduced. Joseph, a student from Morocco, said that through this study, he was shocked and moved by Qu Yuan's spirit of sacrificing his life for his country. He looked forward to learning more about the history of China and hoped to learn and participate in the dragon boat race in the future.
