Wuhan Textile University and Pakistan GIFT University Held the Online Conference of International Exchange & Cooperation

Recently, Wuhan Textile University and Pakistan GIFT University held the Online Conference of International Exchange & Cooperation through the Tencent Conference App. The leaders and teachers of the International Office, the School of International Education, the School of Fashion of WTU talked with Dr. Asir, the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences of GIFT University and Dr. Taimur Kayani, the Director of GIFT Language Center and Ms. Saima, the Deputy Director of the International Office and Ms. Mariam, the Deputy Director of the Student Development Department and the staff of the Personnel Office and the School of Design and Architecture.

Zhang Shangyong, WTU Secretary of the Party Branch of the International Office and the School of International Education, was entrusted by Prof. Lin Li, Director of IO to welcome and make a speech to the Pakistani leaders and teachers. He said that during the post-pandemic era, WTU would be willing to deepen mutual understanding and promote substantive cooperation with Pakistan GIFT University.

In his speech, Dr. Asir, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences of GIFT University, mentioned that Chinese ancient sage Confucius once said, “It’s a great pleasure to have friends from afar.” Pakistan and China are true friends and good brothers who share weal and woe. There are good traditions of unity and cooperation in all walks of industries between the two countries. He said that China's history and culture, Mao Zedong, Xi Jinping and the socialists’ ideas of the Chinese Communist Party and Chinese leaders have had a positive and profound impact on his life. At the moment of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, GIFT University is willing to carry out bilateral exchanges and cooperation with WTU. At the same time, he thanked the outstanding international alumni of WTU, Dr. Hussnain Sethi, a teacher now working at GIFT University, for his contributions to promoting the cooperation between the two universities.

The staff from both universities conducted discussions and reached a consensus on the following aspects: the joint training model of 2+2, 3+1 and other talents cultivation models, international student enrollment, scholarship setting, Chinese language training, teacher-student exchanges, inviting scholars and professors of both sides to participate in academic forums held by the other side, and using more online resources to carry out teaching cooperation. Dr. Taimur Kayani, Director of GIFT Language Center, agreed with all cooperation issues.

The holding of this online conference was an attempt by WTU to respond to international development under the normalization of the global pandemic, and it was a measure to implement the expansion and acceleration of the opening of education in the new era. The two universities will cooperate in the fields of textiles, fashion, management, linguistics, and humanities & social sciences in areas such as joint cultivation of high-level talents, Chinese language training, teacher visits, short-term student exchanges, and international academic exchanges. Both of the two universities will contribute to deepening the China-Pakistan friendship, enhancing people-to-people exchanges between China and Pakistain and promoting the construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative.
