On February 18, the International Photography Exhibition with the theme To Know Wuhan opened online attracted flocks of audiences all over the world by PageFlow in Hamburg,
Germany
. All the 78 works exhibited were shot by Professor Shen Xiangsheng from WTU, selected by Professor Wolfgang Swoboda and his team from HAW. Focused on Wuhan from November 2019 to August 2020, the photos cover the city before, during and after the pandemic, showing the real scene of the heroic city.
“In the introduction of the exhibition, we wrote that Wuhan suddenly attracted global attention due to the pandemic, but what we want to present is the city itself: her streets, her people, and daily life here.” Shen said that it is also one of the purposes of this exhibition.—— In fact, via a daily, sincere, and individual perspective, it will bring people’s thinking about the Community of Shared Future for Mankind.
The successful holding of the exhibition results from the tradition of cooperation between the two universities over the years. Since 2016, they have successively paid mutual teacher-student visits, holding the exhibition for students to create works at the same topics and exchange them. In 2018,with the support of Shen, Professor Wolfgang opened the course To Know Wuhan - 360 ° Panoramic Photography for Chinese and German Students ,which is also at the same time been carried out by his students in Hamburg. The following year, the cross-cultural photography works of the two were exhibited in Hamburg municipal hall. Having acknowledged that Professor Shen has been shooting one To Know Wuhan everyday since April 2019 after the outbreak of coronavirus last year, Professor Wolfgang hopes to use them to remain the memories of Wuhan, also suggesting that he take this as a public elective practice course.
