WTU held an international education and teaching seminar to discuss the international education and teaching work in the "post-pandemic era" under the new situation. President Peng Yuyuan and Vice President Huang Yunping attended the meeting. Also present were the heads of the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Graduate Studies, the Office of Development Planning, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, the School of Textile Engineering, the School of Fashion, the Birmingham School of Fashion and Innovation, the School of International Education, and the China-Europe International Vocational Education and Training Center.
The heads of various administrative departments and schools summarized the achievements and problems in the training of international talents at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and the training of international students in
China
during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, and discussed the development trend of international education and teaching work of WTU in the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.
Peng Yuyuan emphasized the following points at the meeting: firstly, we must make full use of the academic advantages of WTU and the leading role of existing international projects to promote the high-quality development of international talent training; secondly, take multiple measures to improve the quality of online teaching. Administrative departments and schools should innovate their ideas and methods related to work to create favorable conditions to open up new prospects for international cooperation. With Covid-19 keeping spreading, , we should expand international cooperation relations, reserve international exchange resources, attract high-caliber overseas teachers and cooperate with overseas institutions in terms of scientific research; thirdly, ompile a blueprint for international exchanges and cooperation in the "14th Five-Year Plan" to further improve WTU’s opening up to the outside world. We should identify the shortcomings during the 13th Five-Year Plan period and make long-term plans for improvement; fourthly, improve safety awareness and standardize foreign affairs in managing education and teaching. All schools and departments must discover, communicate, and solve problems in a timely manner. In addition, they must respond flexibly to changes against the ever-changing international situation and better international teaching in accordance with relevant policies and regulations.
