WTU Teacher Dr.Gong Xiaozhou Appeared on CCTV 1

“What an astonishing major Textile Engineering is! Neon feather clothing, blood vessel and heart as well as high-rise buildings are inseparable from it…” Recently, Dr.Gong, a textile engineering teacher, was invited as a “major representative” of the latest CCTV program My Major Is Not So Unpopular.

This program focused on the Textile Engineering major, and selected Dr. Gong as the representative of the young generation of textile people to share his studying in this major. The program broadcast his painstaking process of realizing his dream: studying aboard, returning WTU, devoting himself to scientific and technological research and development, and filling the gap in China ’s textile engineering field. Dr. Gong said textile in the new era shows its vitality and a new development trend, and refines the traditional definition. Concepts of “Modern Textile, Great Textile, Super Textile” are leading both the textile major and the textile industry to forge ahead. At the end of the program, Dr. Gong declared that the Textile Major welcomes more aspiring young people in  China to join in.

The program also invited Qian Xiaoping, a researcher of  China ’s First Generation of Artificial Vascular, a national Silk expert, the National Silk Industry Lifetime Achievement Award winner, and WANG Lu, a founder of China 's Medical Textile Major, and a professor from the School of Textile of Donghua University. Three invitees, on behalf of their generations, shared their respective contributions in branches of the textile industry.

Reportedly, My Major Is Not So Unpopular is a new program planned by CCTV. Through innovative ways of interviews and interactions, it aims to make the public know about various majors and disciplines directly by the breakdown of cognitive barriers, ignite the interest of young students in studying and arouse students’ feelings of happiness in scientific research. The program invites a major representative to introduce his or her major and tell his or her experiences on the major.
