The First Fashion and Sustainable Development Conference was held at WTU from 14th to 17th December with an aim of promoting the upgrading of the fashion industry for its sustainable development and exploring the latest trends in this industry.
The conference, themed on "fusion and symbiosis", provided a platform where participants focused on the latest developments of the international fashion industry and compared notes about the relationship between sustainability and industry, design, culture, and technology to promote the sustainable development of the fashion industry through resources pooling and sharing. The conference attracted wide attention from well-known universities and experts at home and abroad, including 15 foreign experts from the United States, Britain, Sweden, Australia, Romania, Portugal, Bangladesh, India and another 200-odd industry scholars, business representatives, teachers and students.
The "Industry-Education Alliance of Fashion Sustainability" was jointly established by dozens of institutions such as Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Xi'an Polytechnic University , Wuhan Textile University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Manchester Metropolitan University, Yantai Pacific Home Fashion Co., Ltd., Wuhan Hanzheng Street Management Committee, etc. The alliance promises further support for personnel training and business sustainable development by integrating university and enterprise resources; meanwhile, more scientific research in this field will help push back the frontiers of fashion innovation and set new trends.
The First EEKA Prize World Eco-Friendly Innovative Fashion Design Competition was held during the conference took fashion innovation as the theme, highlighted the innovative clothing design, and discovered well-rounded design talents equipped with both technological literacy and creative ideas. The joint exhibition, by displaying the joint teaching results of Wuhan Textile University and Manchester Metropolitan University, provided solutions to the problems of the fashion industry to clear the way for its sustainable development.
